“Thank you!! Leah is so excited and electrified by you and photography!! It’s so magical!! ❤️❤️”
NEW YEAR. NEW INSPIRATION.
It’s truly exciting to be continuing my photography workshop this Spring! My work photographing Bar and Bat Mitzvahs has given me the opportunity to see the excitement the subject of photography brings to my young clients first hand. Their enthusiasm fuels me to want to help them discover more about this visual art we use so much in our daily lives, I hope you decide to join me.
Registration for the Spring workshop begins May 15th, 2021.
6 Week Workshop
$799
MAY. 31st - JUL 11th
The Photographic Heart Workshop is designed for ages 13-18. The workshop is a blend of weekly online coaching via zoom, two safe in person field trip style outings in NYC and a virtual museum tour. Using their own digital camera or phone, they’ll review key camera functions alongside five prolific styles of photography; Scenic, Documentary, Portrait, Conceptual Pictures and Event.
Each week will include a workbook style review of each session and photo assignment to complete before the next class. The goal is to challenge each student to push their visual curiosity and help their understanding of the exposure triangle (shutter speed, aperture, ISO) light, and composition through simple photography techniques. Each style of photography and assignment will introduce an authentic exercise in creating visual images that stir emotion, tell a story, capture a fleeting moment or encourage more fun while taking pictures. I have 5 openings available. Plus, siblings may enjoy a 50% discount to join.
How It Works
ONLINE SESSIONS
Each Monday beginning May 31st, students will be emailed a link and get to choose a day and time from multiple options for their one on one zoom session for the week. Students will be emailed a zoom link 30 minutes prior to the start of each session.
WEEKLY RECAPS, ASSIGNMENTS AND PHOTO UPLOADS
Each student will have a dedicated folder created for them on Google Drive for both of us to access. Within 24 hours of each online session, a recap of the lesson including their weekly assignment will be uploaded for them to access. This folder will also house their photos uploaded by them at the end of each week for my review.
IN PERSON GROUP SESSIONS
The workshop includes two in person meet ups for all participating students. First is a photo walk in Central Park following our first lesson online. This group session is designed as an introduction and to encourage the students to photograph scenic elements and ask questions while becoming more acquainted with the specifics of their camera. Week one’s assignment highlights the work of Ansel Adams, they’ll have an opportunity to share what they learned about one of the most recognized scenic photographers in the world. The second is a photo shoot at the Highline following week fours lesson in Editorial Photography. That week’s assignment includes creating a mood board for the shoot, each student will have an opportunity to direct a live model, compose and explore their own unique vision of the shot. Parents or a chaperone are welcome to join during these sessions.
COVID SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Masks are required by students and adults at all times EXCEPT the model while we are shooting as they will be positioned at least 6FT from the group. Hand sanitizer will be on hand or you are welcome to use your own.
WEATHER DELAY: If it rains, an alternate date will be announced.
FINAL PORTFOLIO REVIEW
The final week of our workshop will be creating a custom 8x8 photo book with a select series of images captured during each of the 5 weeks and chosen during our last zoom lesson. A keepsake showing their dedication and vision exerted throughout the workshop. The book will be shipped within 3 weeks of our last session.
AN ARTISTS JOURNEY
“My heart has long guided me in my journey as an artist and when I see heart shapes in nature or something man-made I always take it as a sign to just keep going.”

”The thrill of discovery is something we sometimes forget; the first time you create, the first time you see something and realize that is what you want to do for the rest of your life, your first kiss. I’ve always believed that photography is about much more than the camera mainly because I engaged in a long and storied path of artistic endeavors to get to the place I am now and thankfully all of it contributes to my work. I look forward to inspiring these young artists to dream big and find their visual voice.”
